Background
Taste of Puebla is an authentic Mexican catering company in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, serving recipes rooted in Puebla's culinary tradition. Beyond catering, they run a storefront, sell at area farmers markets and stock their products in local grocery stores.
Owners Chris and Mariana Castaneda needed a website that could do it all: take catering requests, sell food and gift cards online, show where to find them each week, and stay in sync with the Square point-of-sale system they use in the store.
Objectives
Key goals for tasteofpuebla.com:
- Make catering easy to explore and simple to request
- Sell food, sides and gift cards online with scheduled pickup at the store
- Keep online prices and products in sync with the Square point of sale
- Show customers where to find Taste of Puebla at farmers markets and grocery stores
- Support hiring and wholesale inquiries
- Capture the brand's bold, fresh, handmade feel
Challenges
Taste of Puebla runs on Square in the store, so the website couldn't become a second set of prices and products to manage by hand. The catalog had to flow from Square to the site automatically, without breaking checkout.
Catering also works differently from a typical online order. Every event is different, so the site needed to show the menu and pricing clearly while still giving customers an easy way to ask for a custom quote.
Discovery & Planning
We organized the site around the ways people buy from Taste of Puebla: catering for events, online orders for pickup, the weekly farmers markets, and the grocery stores that carry their products.
Each path got its own page, so a catering client and a weekend market regular each find what they need right away.

Design Phase
The design leads with big, bold type, a deep green palette and bright photos of fresh ingredients, the same energy Taste of Puebla brings to their food.
The homepage moves from “Start Your Order” to featured products, house-made guacamole and pico, catering, reviews and the storefront's hours and location.
Catering
The catering page lays out party packs, trays of appetizers and trays of sides with clear per-person and per-tray pricing.
A quote request form sends each inquiry straight to the catering team, so planning an event for 20 people or 200 starts with one simple form.

Online Ordering
The WooCommerce shop is connected to Square, which stays the single source of truth for products and prices. Changes made at the register reach the website automatically.
Customers order online, pay with Square, choose a pickup day that matches the store's hours, and can buy gift cards that work in the store.
Where to Find Us
A dedicated page shows the local grocery stores that carry Taste of Puebla, along with a map and schedule of the farmers markets where they set up each week.

Launch, Hosting & Support
We kicked off design in March 2024 and launched that summer, about five months later. Square was part of the plan from day one, so online orders and the register shared one catalog from launch.
We host the site on our managed servers behind Cloudflare and provide ongoing support, from keeping the Square sync healthy to updating hours, products and the catering menu as the business grows.
Conclusion
tasteofpuebla.com gives a growing local food business one place to sell online, book catering and point customers to their next farmers market, all kept in step with the point of sale they already use.
It is a great example of how we build for small, busy businesses: a site that looks as good as the food and does the busywork in the background.
