DD Art Dolls is the studio of Dawn Donofrio, a New Jersey doll artist who has sculpted babies since 2005. She sells vinyl doll kits, blank silicone kits, finished limited-edition silicone dolls and cloth bodies to collectors around the world.
When Dawn returned to doll-making, she wanted her own store for limited releases and custom orders instead of relying on marketplace auctions.
Objectives
Goals for ddartdolls.com:
- Give Dawn her own branded store
- Handle custom orders with options for hair, eyes and complexion
- Offer deposits and payment plans on higher-priced dolls
- Run auctions for one-of-a-kind pieces
- Share Dawn's story and care tips with collectors
Challenges
Custom dolls don't fit a simple add-to-cart. Each order can include options and add-ons, and many collectors pay over time, so payment plans had to include every option a customer chose.
We wrote custom code so installment plans account for add-on prices correctly.
Discovery & Planning
We built the store around how Dawn sells: kits and blanks for artists, finished dolls for collectors, and custom orders with deposits.
Design Phase
A soft, romantic design with Dawn's script logo and large photos of her babies lets the work speak for itself.
The Shop
The WooCommerce shop handles kits, finished dolls and cloth bodies, with custom-order options, deposits and installment plans, auctions, a wishlist and order tracking.
My Story
Dawn's story page, an FAQ and care tips help new collectors get to know her and look after their dolls.
Launch & Support
We built the store in early 2021 and have supported it since, adding new payment options, an FAQ and more as Dawn's business has grown. We host the site.
