The GoodForPA website was set up with an initial goal of connecting Pennsylvanians to their local and state parks in an easy and accessible way. The team of developers and designers sought out to revamp its digital appearance and functionality, provide comprehensive information, and introduce an interactive tool called "Park Finder" that leverages geolocation technology.
Overview
The website revamp involved comprehensive WordPress development and design encompassing a complete overhaul of the website's aesthetics and user experience. Our major challenge was integrating vast amounts of park data in an intuitive and visually pleasing manner that would aid site visitors in identifying parks local to them based on various search parameters.
Execution
The project started with a focus on enhancing the overall look and feel of the website. A modern interface was introduced that used intuitive navigation and structure to improve usability.
As a centerpiece of the redesign, a new feature named "Park Finder" was introduced. Using advanced geolocation technology or search terms manually entered by the user, the tool hunts down parks among 6000+ local and state Pennsylvania parks listed in the website's database.
Additionally, we developed detailed pages for each park by pulling dynamic data from both public and paid resources. These pages offer rich information about the park and its surroundings, enhancing a site visitor's understanding and encouraging greater engagement with Pennsylvania's wonderful open spaces.
Furthermore, we incorporated extra navigational options based on county, municipality, or park name to add more user-friendly ways for site visitors to interact with the park data.
