Background
Ed Slott and Company is known as America's IRA Experts. It educates financial advisors, institutions, consumers and the media on IRA and retirement tax planning through newsletters, its 2-Day IRA Workshop and the Ed Slott Elite IRA Advisor Group.
In July 2024 they brought us in to take over irahelp.com from their previous agency. We moved the site onto our hosting and have been their development team ever since.
Objectives
What we focus on:
- Keep a busy, membership-driven site fast, stable and secure
- Keep subscriptions and billing in sync between their CRM and the store
- Deliver newsletters securely to subscribers
- Build new products and registrations as the business grows
Challenges
irahelp.com is far more than a brochure site. Subscriptions, payments, events and member access all run through custom code tied to the company's CRM, and much of it had grown over years under another team.
Every change has to protect members' access and billing while new features roll out.
Takeover & Stabilization
We moved the site onto our managed hosting within days of starting, then worked through the custom code that connects the site to their CRM, replacing it piece by piece with cleaner, documented plugins.
2-Day IRA Workshop
We rebuilt registration for the 2-Day IRA Workshop, Ed Slott's flagship training for financial advisors, with a cleaner sign-up flow.
Find an Advisor
We rebuilt the Find an Advisor search so consumers can find trained advisors by location, with advisor offices mapped automatically.
Store & Newsletters
A WooCommerce store now handles newsletter subscriptions, video sales and product launches like Ed Slott's beneficiary book, while hundreds of past newsletter issues were moved into a secure, subscriber-only library.
Ongoing Partnership
Since 2024 we've hosted the site and worked as Ed Slott's development team month to month. We also built the Smart Subscriptions iPhone and iPad app that brings their newsletters to mobile.
